Members of the vetting committee headed by Innovative Volunteer Dr. Joseph Maryale
Since the 7th August 1998 Nairobi Bomb Blast, that targeted the then Embassy of the United States of America, many people claimed to have been affected by the blast and sustained injuries and other resultant effects. It was made more fragile when the government of Kenya by then decided to cater for for some medication and care through the late Hon. Njonjo Commission, where several people received some cash. Many citizens, especially who were at the adjacent houses near the Embassy of America, and those in Kenyatta National Hospital with other ailments for injuries, registered to be part of the bomb blast and issued with attendance/appointment cards stamped Bomb Blast Victims. However, those who received such services and were not part of the Bomb Blast Victims have not first medication sheets indicating how they received the treatment and what caused their injuries or bomb blast effects.
To authenticate for the real victims of the Bomb Blast of 7th August 1998 in Nairobi Kenya, the 7th August 1998 Bomblast Association (Kenya) decided to vet , verify and record the right and real victims and survivors (Beneficiaries), who have right documents in form of first treatment sheets ( for 7th, 8th, 9th or 10th August 1998) and or death certificates and identities of relations for the beneficiaries.
The vetting process done is very simple because it involved the claimant to appear in person and provide the following
-
The first treatment sheet from the hospital attended at the either of indicated dates in which the doctor diagnosis showed the cause to be a result of the 7th August 1998 bomb blast effects
-
Identification card to show you are the claimant
-
Recent taken passport photo
For beneficiaries, one is to come with
-
Death certificate for the deceased which indicates he died due to 7th August 1998 Blast effects
-
Beneficiaries Identification Card
-
Marriage certificate copy for spouse or
-
chiefs letter to authenticate relationship to the deceased
-
recently taken passport size photo
Everyone who lacked the above was not verified as a real victim and his/her documents were not recorded as such.
The vetting called off the claimants who represented the following without the first treatment sheets
-
National Disaster Management fund form
-
The AMREF documents
-
Copies of cheques used to receive the cash for Hon. Njonjo Commission
-
Copies of education scholarships for their children or
-
Any other claims for Bomb blast without any medication of the indicated dates
-
any other medication beyond the indicated dates.
Even though there had been allegations that the victims were more than 4,500, the vetting indicates that real victims might not exceed exceed 250 individuals for real.
Therefore, the individuals indicated in this website are the real victims whose original treatment sheets are ready for attachment and whose authenticity is real in relation to medical records.
